Notice of Monthly Meeting & Special Election

The PTO will hold its next regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, November 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Aquarian Library. The proposed agenda can be found here.Changes to the agenda must be submitted to the PTO secretary no later than Friday, November 3 at 5 p.m.

At this meeting PTO will be holding a special election to fill one vacancy on the PTO Board. Anybody interested in serving on the board can complete a self-nomination form and submit it to the office (or any PTO member) prior to the meeting, and/or attend the meeting and self-nominate. Nomination forms are available in the office.

Dues are Due!

It's that time of year again - dues are due! 

If you haven't already, now is the time to pay your annual PTO membership dues. For the low, low price of only $10 per family, you'll become a voting member of the PTO, meaning you'll have a say in how PTO spends its money. Not only that, you'll be contributing to Yearbook, Fall Carnival, Explorations, teacher appreciation week, and all the other fabulous activities that make Aquarian the awesome community it is. 

If you have more than one child attending Aquarian, consider a lifetime membership. Just $80 makes you a voting member for as long as you have children attending Aquarian - that's a bargain if you have more than one child!  

Please complete the PTO membership form and return it, along with your payment, to any PTO board member or the office. If you already purchased a lifetime membership, there's no need to do anything!

Ice Cream Social

Welcome back Aquarian families!

We will be posting an ice cream social on Friday, August 18 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the school. Meet your teachers, catch up with your friends, and get ready for another great school year!

If your child raised any money for the Aquarian-a-Thon, all pledges are due TODAY, Friday, October 30. Money received after this date will not count toward eligibility for prizes.

The Aquarian Charter School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will hold its regular meeting on Monday, November 2 at 5:30 p.m. in the Aquarian Library. All families are welcome to attend.

In addition, the PTO board will hold board and officer elections. Any PTO member may nominate himself to serve as a board and/or officer of the board by completing a self-nomination form. Forms must be submitted to the office, or any PTO board member, no later than Monday, November 2 at 3:30 p.m.

2nd Annual Aquarian-A-Thon Set for Thursday, October 15

It's time for the 2nd Annual Aquarian-a-Thon. This is Aquarian's ONLY big fundraiser for the year. No more selling wrapping paper, candy and other tchotchkes that nobody really wants. Instead, students will spend one hour outside (30 minutes for kindergarten and 1st graders) participating in the activity of their choice - running, dancing, or playing basketball/four square. 

Here’s how it works:

Students collect pledges in the form of either a single flat pledge or a specific dollar amount per each lap run, or every 5 minutes spent dancing or playing basketball/four square. Once the event is over, students have until October 30 to collect and turn in their pledges. 

All money raised from the Aquarian-a-Thon will support the Aquarian
PTO for classroom field trips, playground equipment
upgrades, ice rink maintenance, Artist-In-Residence (particularly a potter this year), and explorations with an emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). All money raised by 4th, 5th and 6th graders will go toward camps.

Here's the part the kids are most interested in - PRIZES!

• $50 in pledges - Name entered into a drawing for an H2Oasis Adventure! (admission and pizza)
• $75 in pledges - Name entered into H2Oasis drawing and $5 to spend at the school store!
• $100 in pledges - Name entered into the H2Oasis drawing, $5 to spend at the school store, and an Aquarian-A-Thon T-shirt!
• $100+ in pledges - All of the above, plus additional prizes for the top 10 money makers.

(All prizes will be awarded December 16).

GRAND PRIZE: 

The Top Student Fundraiser will be named “Principal for the Day” (cancelling school not allowed!).

In addition, there will be a class contest. 

The top primary (K-2) and intermediate (3-6) classes that collectively raise the most money will win a pizza party for their class.  

Flyers and pledge envelopes were sent home with all students on Wednesday, October 7. If one didn't make it home with your child, check with Annie or Hope in the office.

End of Year Farewell

It has been another fabulous year. Thanks so much for being a part of PTO and making all of our fundraising and just plain fun events successful. Don't forget we do have a summer meeting that is scheduled for July 14th at 5:30. It will be at my house. I was thinking BBQ style. More details as it gets closer. It will be an important meeting to talk about all of our back to school events, elections, and the outcome of of our hardworking budget committee.

Upcoming PTO Fundraisers

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) of Aquarian Charter School will be holding a couple fun fundraising events in the month of December.

December 6 - Babysitting Night. Sixth grade students are offering up their babysitting skills during our first event like this of the year. Children will be entertained by the older students with pizza, craft stations, and a movie and popcorn while parents enjoy an evening out. Preregistration is required. Proceeds will benefit the 6th grade field trip. Email Ms. Monica for more information.

December 8 - Pampered Chef Party. Update your kitchenware or stock your stuffing with useful gadgets while raising money for Aquarian PTO. Order online, manually from the catalog, or come to the party and relax with other Aquarian parents. Click here for more information.

December 22 - Barnes and Noble Gift Wrapping. Spread holiday cheer by wrapping gifts at Barnes and Noble or by donating your favorite gift wrap items such as bows and tags for us to use. Proceeds will benefit the Aquarian Library. Click here for more information.

PTO Budget Approved - September 3, 2013

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) of Aquarian Charter School held a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 3 at 5:30 PM. During the meeting PTO members approved a budget and spending plan for the 2013-2014 school year.
